Stankspray als less lethal weapon

Voor relbestrijding is onlangs een stinkende vloeistof ontwikkeld die kan worden verspreid als een mist. Deze vloeistof wordt Skunk genoemd en zou erg moeilijk afwasbaar zijn. De fabrikant beweert ook dat deze vloeistof niet giftig zou zijn.

Deze mist kan worden verspreid door de politie via een waterkanon dat op een vrachtwagen is bevestigd of via een tank in een rugzak, waaraan een slang met spuitmechanisme.

Onder andere de politie in Los Angeles en South Carolina gebruikt volgens onderstaand artikel stankspray tegen ongewenst gedrag.

Skunk spray – the new non lethal weapon

Ever been sprayed by a skunk? Anyone who has been unfortunate enough to be sprayed on by a skunk will tell you how “smelly” it can be.

Skunks have two glands, one on either side of the anus, that produce a mixture of sulfur-containing chemicals (methyl and butyl thiols (mercaptans)) that has a highly offensive smell that can be described as a combination of the odors of rotten eggs, garlic and burnt rubber. The skunk uses the glands as a defensive weapon. The odor of the fluid is strong enough to ward off bears and other potential attackers, and can be difficult to remove from clothing. The smell is sufficiently powerful to be detected by even an insensitive human nose anywhere up to a mile downwind.  Most predators seldom attack skunks - presumably out of fear of being sprayed.

Now imagine this………using bad smell to control unruly crowds. The police in Israel claim to have developed a new non lethal but SMELLY weapon to control crowds. The Israeli scientists analyzed the fluid sprayed by skinks and have developed an artificial version – a green colored fluid based entirely on organic components as it contains a thoroughly disgusting mix of yeast, baking powder and a few other "secret" ingredients.

It’s called the skunk bomb – an improvement over the rubber bullets and tear gas used previously. The new weapon is dispensed via a hose system

The skunk bomb was used for the first time during a protest in the village of Naalin where Palestinians were holding protests almost daily against a security barrier that Israel is building in the area. The police used a water spraying device to shower the smelly fluid on the crowd forcing most to rush off to change their clothes. Those at the receiving end described the smell as similar to that of sewage, adding that it was hard to get rid of, even after a shower. The Israeli police claim to have the approval of legal and medical authorities for the use of the skunk bomb. They claim it is completely harmless and can even be consumed!!! The skunk bomb is designed to force civilian protesters to disperse.

The Israelis are so enthusiastic about the skunk bomb that they hope to market it to law enforcement agencies worldwide.

In the United States, a growing number of law enforcement agencies across the country are now turning to similar smelling sprays to ward off trespassers. The police in Los Angeles, CA and South Carolina are using such sprays keep drug addicts and prostitutes out of old abandoned buildings. The cops use a chemical spray that makes the place smell like a skunk has just sprayed the place. In Richland County, SC the use of old abandoned buildings by vagrants has taken a nose dive. In the Compton area near Los Angeles, CA abandoned buildings had been a hot spot for people to hang out and drink until they got a whiff of skunk spray. It's a stinking but effective solution.

Wanneer noem je een discussie afgerond?

Een discussie is een vorm van bespreking, zoals een gesprek of andere vorm van communicatie, tussen twee of meer partijen over een bepaald onderwerp, waarbij de partijen elkaar van een bepaald standpunt proberen te overtuigen. Met behulp van argumenten proberen de partijen elkaar te overtuigen om uiteindelijk tot een conclusie te komen waar alle partijen het mee eens zijn. Een partij kan dus zijn mening veranderen tijdens een discussie, en tevreden zijn met een alternatieve (tussen)oplossing, mits hier argumenten voor zijn gegeven. Dit in tegenstelling tot een debat, waarbij de partijen niet van hun mening wijken.

Dus niet alleen maar ''ik vind'' roepen, om vervolgens weer een nieuw onderwerp aan te snijden.  
Of debatteert u alleen maar, heer Lingen? (ik verwacht wederom geen antwoord van u, maar dat terzijde)

Meneer Lingen heeft volgens mij belangen bij een firma die tal van dit soort zaken verkoopt. Want het gaat steeds meer op een verkooppraatje lijken. Net zoiets als een tijdje geleden iemand die een nieuwe gevechtssport door de neus heen wilde duwen.
