Gewonden door vallende lift Tower BridgeLonden - Verschillende toeristen zijn maandag gewond geraakt doordat de lift in de Tower Bridge in Londen naar beneden is gestort.
Tien personen zijn inmiddels bevrijd door hulpverleners. Zes mensen worden verzorgd door ambulancepersoneel en drie zijn er inmiddels naar het ziekenhuis in Londen overgebracht. De gewonden hebben voornamelijk last van beenletsel. Er zouden nog mensen vastzitten.
De brug is afgesloten voor verkeer. Ambulances en brandweerauto's zijn ter plaatse.
Het is niet bekend van welke hoogte de lift in de noordelijke toren naar beneden is gevallen. Een van de kabels zou zijn geknapt.
Er kunnen maximaal 40 personen tegelijk in de lift.

Six People Hurt In Tower Bridge Lift Drama Six people have been injured after a lift plummeted inside London's Tower Bridge - thought to have been triggered by a snapped cable.
Emergency crews are treating the injured at Tower Bridge
It happened in one of the lifts operating in the north tower.
Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt, who is at the scene, said: "There's an exhibition in the north tower and we think that most if not all of those in the lift were tourists.
"Although it has not been confirmed it looks as though a cable snapped causing the lift to fall.
"Four people walked away unscathed and six have suffered injuries."
City of London Corporation spokeswoman:
"The incident happened when the lift to the Tower Bridge exhibition was on the way down. It did not fall from the top, it fell the last 10ft - it suddenly dropped."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed six adults - two women and four men - had been hurt.
"They had all sustained lower leg injuries, but were fully conscious," she said.
The incident happened at around 1.15pm when the lift to the exhibition was on the way down.
A spokeswoman at the City of London Corporation, which has launched an investigation, said: "It did not fall from the top, it fell the last 10ft - it suddenly dropped.
"The door automatically opened. Six people were injured. About 10 people have left the scene and were uninjured.
"The lift takes a maximum of 40 people but it is not possible to say exactly how many people were in the lift."
The capital's iconic landmark is currently undergoing a three-year restoration programme of painting and stone cleaning.
However, it has remained open to visitors to the Tower Bridge exhibition and high-level walkways.
The bridge was temporarily closed during the incident but has reopened to traffic.
