Highlights from today's Sitrep 28 October 2011, prepared by the Office of the RC in Ankara:
• The number of dead has risen to 573 and the number of injured to 2,608. The number of people rescued is 187. The Government’s search and rescue efforts continued unabated.
• Prompt action is taken by OCHA, UNHCR, UNFPA and IOM to provide tents requested by the Government and other relief items to the Turkish Red Crescent Society.

According to Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, 28th of Oct by 09.30 local time, there are 570 confirmed dead, 2555 injured and 187 rescued.

The number of dead has risen to 534 and the number of injured to 2,300. The number of people rescued is 185. The Government’s search and rescue efforts continued unabated.
· Prompt action is taken by OCHA, UNHCR, and UNFPA to provide tents requested by the Government. The first delivery of 4000 tents has already been delivered to the Government along with 10,000 blankets and 10,000 bed mats to Turkish Red Crescent Society.
· The National Government has allocated 13 million TL to the Van Provincial Government as emergency aid allowance.
· A total of 8,600,000 TL has been collected through aid campaigns.

According to Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, 27th of Oct by 21.30 local time, there are 550 confirmed life losses, 2300 injured victims and 185 citizens has been extricated as well.
