DAF Trucks in the fire and rescue sector
The success of this strategy can be judged from a growing number of DAF-based fire and rescue tenders across the country. Amongst recent sales are six DAF LF55 250FF chassis for Dumfries and Galloway. These chassis have been purchased on a three-year contract and are complete with 120 liter safety fuel tanks and Chelsea PTO. The fire authority bought these after purchasing a DAF LF55 15-tonne haulage chassis on which a hook lift rescue has been mounted. This experience enabled them to see for themselves how DAF Trucks and its local dealer, Solway DAF, responded to their requirements.
A further significant order comes from the FSPA which has just ordered 11 DAF LF 55.250 vehicles for use in the North East.
A significant factor in the choice of these new DAF conventional fire appliances is their excellent manoeuvreability and compact dimensions, both features which give them exceptional advantages when dealing with incidents which require access via both country lanes and congested inner city streets.
Also, with the current trend of gross vehicle weights of fire appliances creeping up to cope with the need to carry rescue equipment as well as fire fighting gear, it is interesting to note that the DAF LF55 fire appliance gives a class-leading potential payload of seven tonnes whilst still having a narrower overall width than other competitive compact appliances.
Further demand for blue light DAFs is likely following a nine months nationwide tour by DAF's own LF 55 fire engine demonstrator.

Van deze tankautospuiten heb ik alleen maar een beeld van de opbouwphase gezien.
Nog steed zijn er niet veel DAFs in Groot Britannie. Derbyshire Fire & Rescue heeft 2 schuimblusvoetruigen op 3-assige DAF 75. Heb iemand goede photos van deze voetuigen. Het lijkt dat deze voertuigen bijna "geheim" zijn.
Volgens mij is er nog een bronto hoogwerker op DAF 2500 en een autoladder van Metz op DAF 1900 van Lancashire.
