And that strange typically-UK bodywork. :D
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

Some more photographs from the UK, unfortunately many fire vehicles in the UK are becoming totally Scania - they are very, very common with British fire brigades.

FIRE BRIGADE: Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service
TYPE: Water Ladder (tankautospuiten)
CHASSIS: Dennis Dagger (with extended chassis)
BODY: JDC

This is a one-off vehicle, it is not an XL chassis like the Dennis Sabre or Dennis Rapier, but the chassis was extended a few inches as requested by Royal Berkshire.

I mentioned a few days ago that I would explain the different types of vehicles used in the UK, equipment they carry and what type of incidents they will attend. You will find that there is not much difference between the UK and the Netherlands.

First up is what is commonly known in the UK as a 'pump'. You guys will call these tankautospuitens. Every single fire station in the UK has at least one, and every single emergency incident will have at least one pump attending.
They carry between four and six personnel including the driver and officer, all UK pumps have 1800 litre water tanks and a minimum of a 1000gpm pump.
Ladders carried can vary, most however will carry two main ladders - a 13.5 metre triple extension ladder, plus a 10.5 metre ladder.
Two high-pressure hose reels are carried - one on each side of the vehicle, plus several lengths of 45mm and 70mm hose with various nozzles.
Other equipment carried includes five sets of Breathing Apparatus, hydraulic cutting gear such as Holmatro/jaws of life, chemical protection suits and many other pieces of equipment.

An emergency call to a house fire in the UK will get a minimum of two pumps attending initially.

TURNTABLE LADDER (AUTOLADDER)
Known simply as a 'TL' in the UK, most are 100ft (30m) in height and made by either Metz or Magirus. Turntable Ladders carry very little equipment, no fire pump and are crewed by two personnel. They will never attend incidents alone, and will only attend with a pump. They are often used as water towers to pour water onto fires from height. Sometimes they are used for rescue.
