This is a fire station (Brandweer Kazerne) in the Lake District, a very beautiful part of England. This vehicle has just been replaced by a newer type of vehicle.

What is the blue bubble on top of the crew cabin? A blue flashlight?

And do all the pumps/pump ladders in the UK have the same basic equipment? Like we (should) have over here?

Hello Wouter, the blue bubble is indeed a blue strobe/flashing light. This one extends upwards and is used for safety purposes at road accidents/car crashes, or sometimes at large incidents as a command post.
Yes, most pumps/pump ladders in the UK carry the same basic equipment. Tomorrow I will list the various types of vehicles used commonly in the UK and what they carry.

Love the Scania P-series as a water tender vehicle!
I showed it to a local fire brigade...now I have to build their new container chassis with exactly the same lighting on their new Scania, haha.

There are four of these vehicles in South Yorkshire purchased in 2008, since then they have had many technical problems and breakdowns. They are rarely in service and disliked by the Firefighters.

''Funny'', in Amstelveen (region of Amsterdam) they've had the same technical problems with a Mercedes Econic / Hilton combination.
This one started service in 2002, was rarely in service , wend out of service in 2007....
Amsterdam Fire Department sold the truck in 2011.

Why is there so much difference between the striping on fire trucks in the UK? Some vehciles have Battenburg, some vehicles have only one small stripe. Here in Holland there is also some diffence, but mostley at the old vehicles. The ministery here has given guidlines for new fire vehicles, they must have the same striping for a better recognize. Is that also in the UK or can the fire service in the region deside?

The UK government tried to introduce a national livery like what you have in Holland, but a lot of the fire services would not accept it. Quite a lot of trucks are battenburg but this is by their own choice, as each fire service can decide their own livery.

We have Scania P series as container chassis in the UK too - they are called Prime Movers. This one is from Derbyshire and carries the Breathing Apparatus Support Unit.
