Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center spokesman: Patient brought in with police guard, resuscitated but ultimately died. We do not know details or name of suspect who died in hospital; he was a male adult. You give the best care you can to every patient who comes to you; you don't know what happened.  Patient sustained multiple injuries, potentially gunshot wounds, probably a blast injury too.

Because of the ongoing manhunt for a person wanted in connection with Monday’s Marathon bombings all MBTA services (buses and subway) have been suspended effective immediately.  People should not go to or congregate at transportation stations.

Residents in Watertown, Newton, Waltham, Belmont, Cambridge and the Allston Brighton neighborhoods of Boston are advised to stay home from work and stay in doors. Residents should not answer the door unless it is a police officer, and are advised to stay away from windows. All businesses in these towns will remain closed until further notice. People should not congregate outside.

Residents and businesses should monitor media for further information.

De twee verdachten zijn inmiddels geïdentificeerd en zouden broers zijn, meldt NBC News. Volgens persbureau AP komen ze uit een regio in de Noordelijke Kaukasus, vermoedelijk Tsjetsjenië. Ze zouden sinds een jaar legaal in de Verenigde Staten wonen en eerder in Turkije gewoond hebben.

NBC News meldde eerder al dat de verdachten militaire ervaring hebben.

De verdachte die nog voortvluchtig is, heet Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev en is 19 jaar, meldt persbureau AP.

Wat ik reeds vermoede bij de aanslag, vanuit welk ideologisch bron de motivatie is, wordt hier bevestigd. Ze zijn vast geen lid vd hervormde kerk geweest.
