Bij metaalrecyclingbedrijf Van Mechelen in Geldrop is maandagavond brand uitgebroken. Er zijn geen gewonden gevallen.

Op industrieterrein De Spaarpot in Geldrop heeft maandagavond een felle brand gewoed. De brand, bij afvalverwerker Van Mechelen ging gepaard met enorme rookwolken.

Volgens had de brandweer het vuur rond 20.30 uur onder controle maar is er nog enkele uren nageblust.

De brandweer bestreed het vuur met onder meer drie tankautospuiten, een hoogwerker en twee watertransportwagens. Het is nog niet bekend of er gevaarlijke stoffen zijn vrijgekomen.

De oorzaak van de brand is nog niet bekend
