Passengers taken off fire-hit ferry

A number of passengers have been taken off a ferry by helicopter in the North Sea, near the East Yorkshire coast, after a fire broke out on board.
RAF Squadron leader Dave Webster told Sky News at least four passengers suffering from smoke inhalation had been winched off the MS King Seaways ferry.
The ship was about 30 miles east of Flamborough Head, he said, and he believed the fire had been contained.

A helicopter rescue operation is under way after a fire broke out aboard a ferry in the North Sea.
The blaze began in the accommodation area of the MS King Seaways ferry off Falmborough Head.
Two RAF helicopters are assisting with the rescue operation.
RAF Squadron Leader Dave Webster said 946 passengers and 130 crew are aboard the ferry.
He added that four people are being winched to safety, and will be taken to Scarborough Hospital. The fire has been contained.
The ferry is operated by DFDS between North Shields and Ijmuiden in the Netherlands.
