PESSE - Bij een grote brand in Manege Smit aan de Oostering in Pesse zijn vannacht vijftig paarden geëvacueerd. Een deel van een opslagloods met hooi ging in vlammen op.

Een voorbijganger ontdekte het vuur. Hoe de brand is ontstaan, is niet bekend. Drie brandweerkorpsen uit Hoogeveen en Ruinen bestreden het vuur. Er raakte niemand gewond, ook alle dieren bleven ongedeerd. Brandstichting wordt niet uitgesloten.
