Grieks restaurant Yiamas in Meppel in brand

MEPPEL - De zolder van Grieks restaurant Yiamas in Meppel staat in lichterlaaie.

Op het moment dat de brand uitbrak zaten er mensen te dineren, maar inmiddels zijn zij allemaal geëvacueerd. Niemand heeft gevaar gelopen, meldt een woordvoerder van veiligheidsregio Drenthe.

Omdat de vuurhaard zich in de nok van het pand aan de Woldstraat bevindt, is de brand opgeschaald. Deze plek is moeilijk te bereiken en de brandweer was bang dat de brand zou overslaan naar aangrenzende panden.
