A woman was airlifted to hospital after falling off a horse in Essex.

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) received a call at 10.47am today (27th October) to Ivy Lane, East Mersea.

A rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew, Hazardous Area Response Team, and Essex Air Ambulance were dispatched to the patient who was in a field.

They treated a woman, believed to be in her 40s, who had suffered a suspected fractured hip.

She was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Colchester General Hospital for further treatment.

Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
