His Excellency Interior Ministry, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa chaired on Saturday a meeting with senior Interior Ministry officers in order to be briefed on the latest security situation and the results of the investigation into the terrorist attack in Karbabad village. The case has so far resulted in the arrest of a number of suspects.
HE Interior Minister offered his sincere condolences to Bahrainis and to the family of the deceased policeman, Mohammed Tanweer, who was killed on Saturday during the attack. HE prayed for his soul to rest in peace and for the fast recovery of the two other injured policemen.
The Minister stressed that anyone who incites violence will be held accountable by law. He stated that 17 policemen have been killed since 2011 and that he hoped everyone involved in these crimes will be brought to justice.
He said the most recent terrorist attack in Karbabad was the result of incitement from both inside and outside of Bahrain and reminded parents to protect their children from incitement online.
HE Interior Minister asserted that police personnel are legally authorised to use force against anyone who jeopardises the lives of police officers or the security of the nation, and that the role of police is to protect general order. He stressed the importance of justice in terrorist cases to protect security and punish those responsible from committing such attacks.
