Loop een beetje te dartelen in Hong Kong. Zie ik daar ineens een een St. John's Ambulance voorbij rijden.

Dat kan wel kloppen ja:
Hong Kong St. John Ambulance is a charitable organization with a long history stretching back over a century and has been serving the community since 1884.

In Hong Kong, the St. John Ambulance Association was established in 1884, followed by the Ambulance Brigade in 1916 and the Council in 1949. Adhered to its motto, "For the Service of Mankind", the organisation is dedicated to provide First Aid and ambulance services in emergency, dental care for the elderly and patients with special needs, and courses of instructions on First Aid and Home Nursing for the general public.

Mooie foto's weer, zoals Oma ze wel vaker post van Britse hulpverleners.
Ik vind het jammer dat bijvoorbeeld het Nederlandse Rode Kruis in veel plaatsen een bijna panisch "geen foto beleid"  voert. Met een paar goede fotografen zouden we ook een heel mooie beeld kunnen geven van ons werk hier. Natuurlijk moet je nadenken over wat je fotografeert, slachtoffers zijn een no go, maar mooie foto's van vrijwilligers en materiaal kunnen heel goede PR opleveren.

Wat een logistiek en organisatie!
Mooi om te zien hoe men dat allemaal uiterst professioneel aanpakt. Ik geloof zonder meer dat dit nodig is op een evenement met 2 miljoen bezoekers in de stad Londen.
Krijg ook sterk de indruk als ik alle foto's bekijk dat men nergens op bezuinigt. Maar zorgt dat alles goed geregeld is. Voertuigen, kleding, materiaal, communicatie. Alles lijkt tip top.
En volgens oma mogen de paramedics ook alle handelingen die we in Nederland doen. Weet niet of er verschillen zitten in niveaus tussen al die medische mensen en hun vaardigheden.
Enige jaloersheid kan ik niet onderdrukken bij het zien van de foto's     . Toppunt van goede samenwerking tussen verschillende partijen. En reguliere ambulancediensten die ook een aanzienlijk deel evenementen hulpverlening mee pakken.

In Nederland mag de reguliere ambulancezorg het klusje klaren plus wat extra ambulances wat ingehuurde evenementen hulpverleners, wat rode kruis en een NHT team, succes niet verzekerd...
