A Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) commuter train crashed at Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn, New York, this morning, injuring 103 passengers, officials said.The worst injury is believed to be a broken leg, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said at a news conference this morning.

New York City Fire Department (FDNY)FDNY members at the scene of today’s LIRR train derailment at Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn utilized MERVs (Major Emergency Response Vehicles) and METUs (Medical Evacuation Transportation Units) to treat and transport patients to area hospitals. MERVs and METUs were used for patients determined to have minor injuries, who were able to walk on their own. These specially configured patient care vehicles can provide care and transportation for numerous patients simultaneously. They are stocked with specialized equipment and additional supplies that can augment operations at a scene with numerous injured patients. 11 patients injured in today’s train derailment were transported via ambulances. There were 104 total injuries reported, all were non life-threatening.
