Needed relief material:
According to media reports, blankets, water, tents and food items and heavy machinery for rescue operations are needed and have been dispatched to the region by AFAD, the Turkish Red Crescent and NGOs.

As of 25th October, 23.30, summary of GEA SAR Team’s efforts in the region:
Multiple teams from Istanbul, Ankara, Eskisehir, Izmir and Van cities were deployed to Van city center and Ercis district.
4 people were rescued in Van city center near by Hüsrevpasa Primary School.
4 people were rescued in Alaköy District
15 people were rescued in Ercis city center, including a 7.5 month pregnant female
The team is still working in multiple sites for possible rescues.  
 
D. Sahin (AKUT; Turkey) (25-Oct-2011 21:55)    
As of 7pm 25th of October, 459 people have unfortunately lost their lives and 1352 people have been injured after the Van Earthquake. Search and Rescue operation is still on progress.

AKUT Search and Rescue Association is still in the region and continuing operations with 190 personnel, 6 dogs and more then 35 tons of equipment

3 million Turkish Lira allocated to the emergency relief operation.
2,398 search & rescue personnel and 12 search dogs are in the aected area.
355 vehicles and heavy lifting equipment, 108 ambulances, 30 generators, 95 portable WCs, 6.377 tents,
16.888 blankets, 425 sleeping bags, 21 portable kitchens and other non-food items have been delivered in
addition to 500 food packages.
3 military planes have been shuttling between Ankara and Van carrying personnel and equipment.
Coordinators deployed to Ankara Esenboğa, İstanbul Atatürk and İzmir Adnan Menderes airports to
facilitate response operations.
Emergency centers will work 24/7 to carry out search-rescue, temporary sheltering, debris removal, medical
and psychosocial support.

Koc Damn, located north of Ercis is claimed to be damaged and leaking. Citizens living close to the damn are evacuating their homes. No official information yet.

België stuurt een 15 koppig B-FAST team naar Turkije samen met het nodige materiaal om een tentenkamp op te zetten voor de daklozen.
Vertrek naar alle waarschijnlijkheid deze nacht nog.

The EU civil protection mechanism has been activated following the official request for assistance for winterized tents, pre-fabricated lodging and container homes. The MIC is deploying the EU CP team to Turkey. Several EU MS have offered assistance.

OCHA has dispatched 400 winterized multi-purpose tents (for 5 to 8 persons each) from the OCHA-Norway stocks in Brindisi (Italy) to Erzurum. First airlift arrived on 26/10, second flight to take place on 27/10. Total value of goods + transport (approx. USD 300,000) covered by the Norwegian authorities.  
 
SDC, Swiss Humanitarian Aid (HQ Berne) (27-Oct-2011 15:38)    
Humanitarian Aid of the Swiss Confederation (MFA) together with Swiss Red Cross assists with
• 300 winter proof family tents
• additional material such as stoves and blankets
In addition Humanitarian Aid dispatched today a Rapid Response Team (RRT) for the assessment of additional needs.
Volume so far: USD 550'000
