Qatar: Mobile Hospital (merk autobus: Karwa)
The 12m long bus comes equipped with stretchers and can accommodate eight patients and medical personnel for transport. The mobile hospital has seven treatment areas including beds for the seriously injured, a first aid couch for treating people with minor injuries and a fully-equipped mobile treatment room when there is a need to treat people at the scene or transport them to hospitals.
The bus includes: a vital signs monitor with central monitoring system, infusion pump, breathing apparatus such as centralised oxygen and air supply, independent vacuum and ventilation and a mobile nebuliser. The vehicle is also equipped with ultrasound, wireless mobile X-ray imaging device, cardiac defibrillators, and a wireless ECG machine.
The bus also has an examination couch and orthopaedic operating table with surgical lamp for minor operations.
Other special features include an ENT diagnostic portable set, urine analyser and other laboratory testing devices for the medical personnel working on-board.
Dubai Ambulance Service
Apart from this, for further diagnosis an X-ray apparatus and ultrasound machine are provided. On board the Mercedes-Benz large-capacity emergency ambulances is the smallest X-ray device in the world which, thanks to its extremely low radiation emissions, makes protective measures such as lead shielding superfluous. The X-ray images are displayed on a computer monitor in real-time. Meanwhile, during treatment the patient lies on an operation table illuminated with operation-theatre-standard lights. With sets of single-use surgical instruments, the most diverse operations and treatments can be performed. The Mercedes-Benz large-capacity emergency ambulances are also perfectly equipped to deal with a caesarean operation, since not only are the necessary instruments provided, there is also an incubator for optimum care of the new-born or prematurely-born babies.
Supplying the patients on board with oxygen is a special challenge, since this is a particularly important treatment for injured persons. Each of the buses carries 12,000 litres of oxygen, which guarantees oxygen supply for up to three days. The gas is conducted to the seat groups via separate lines. At the touch of a button, oxygen masks fall from their special holders with which the oxygen flow volume can be individually regulated.
In addition, the buses can be equipped with a supply box at the rear. This contains a generator unit, tents for the attention of additional patients, decontamination systems with their protection equipment, and an oxygen concentrator. This system enables oxygen to be generated over a period of several weeks, making the operators independent of gas suppliers.
